Week 10 Period: First flight, solo
Your first flight in the aircraft, which is also your first flight alone in it, because this type has no second seat to put anyone in
26 April 2027
Before you arrive#
The signed authorisation, your written gates, and eight hours of sleep that the schedule has made room for and will check.
In this period#
One takeoff. One circuit. One landing.
There is no instructor seat in this aircraft. That is not a choice the school made; it is a property of the airframe, and it means the first flight in this type is a solo flight. Every period since week 1 exists because of that fact.
Wren is on the radio and Ida is on the line. Neither can assist directly.
You fly under a gate for the sortie itself, in the same form as the ones written in week 9: conditions under which you do not start, and conditions under which you return without completing the circuit. Using it is not a failure — it is what the previous nine weeks were for.
Afterwards#
Sign the aircraft back in with Ida. Then, the same day and before discussing it with anyone, write the point in the sortie at which you were furthest behind the aircraft, and what you did about it. This becomes the first page of your week 11 submission.
The spec
What you bring to the session. Written so a reader can tell whether it has been met without asking you.
- you hold the signed authorisation, or you do not fly
- you fly one takeoff, one circuit, one landing
- you bring the aircraft back
