The weekly tutorial activity that follows each lecture, week by week.

Each tutorial takes the week’s lecture and turns it into something you do: an activity, a reaction to record, and a reflection that states the lesson in your own words. Participation across the semester counts toward Tutorial Participation.

Week 1 Tutorial: Observing the Method for the First Time

The observe/isolate/describe method, rehearsed once on a norm nobody in the room has any stake in, before anyone picks a real topic.

Week 1 · 27 July 2027

Week 2 Tutorial: Deniable to Overt

Applying the timing/target/aftermath framework to a cough, then contrasting it against a classroom violation nobody could call an accident.

Week 2 · 3 August 2027

Week 3 Tutorial: Watching the Panel and the Door

A short field observation of an elevator boarding sequence, framed by the lecture's fixed-capacity, high-density reading of the space.

Week 3 · 10 August 2027

Week 4 Tutorial: Measuring the Room's Noise Floor

Logging a quiet room's actual noise floor for ten minutes, to test the lecture's claim that a shush is often louder than what it answers.

Week 4 · 17 August 2027

Week 5 Tutorial: Pricing a Saved Seat

Observing how the same seat-saving claim reads differently depending on how full the room is, ahead of Assignment 1.

Week 5 · 24 August 2027

Week 6 Tutorial: Claimed Space on a Moving Vehicle

Comparing transport's constantly-recalculated claimed space against Week 5's seat-saving, ahead of the Midpoint Crit.

Week 6 · 31 August 2027

Week 7 Tutorial: Two Commons, No Fixed Venue

Locating where a queue's implicit agreement is strongest and weakest, and walking a route to observe threshold litter, ahead of Assignment 2.

Week 7 · 7 September 2027

Week 8 Tutorial: Measuring a Pile-Up

Timing how far a sudden stop propagates through a moving crowd, treating pedestrian flow as a fluid-dynamics problem.

Week 8 · 14 September 2027

Week 9 Tutorial: Re-Testing the Isolate–Contest–Verdict Protocol

Applying the Isolate–Contest–Verdict (ICV) Protocol to a case you already know the answer to, ahead of Assignment 2.

Week 9 · 21 September 2027

Week 10 Tutorial: Naming a Breach

Examining the public restroom's silence pretence, and what it actually costs to name a breach of it out loud.

Week 10 · 28 September 2027

Week 11 Tutorial: Rehearsing the Performance

Preparing and debriefing the one deliberate violation the course asks you to actually commit, under supervision, in the Live Practicum.

Week 11 · 5 October 2027

Week 12 Tutorial: Drafting the Capstone Claim

Turning a semester of case studies into one testable claim, rehearsed against the Week 1 method ahead of the Final Exam.

Week 12 · 12 October 2027
