Week 9 Tutorial: Re-Testing the Isolate–Contest–Verdict Protocol
Applying the Isolate–Contest–Verdict (ICV) Protocol to a case you already know the answer to, ahead of Assignment 2.
21 September 2027
Activity#
Pick one of this week’s three revisited cases (elevator, café seat-saving, transit space) and, without looking back at its original deck, write your own one-paragraph Bad manner / Good manner pair from memory.
Record your reaction#
Compare what you wrote to the original deck’s version. Note anything you flattened, exaggerated, or left out — and whether the case still felt contested once you’d written it down plainly.
Reflection#
State in a few sentences whether the ICV Protocol — isolate the act, name what makes it deniable or contested, state a plain verdict — actually generalised for the case you picked, or whether forcing it into that shape lost something the original case had. Assignment 2 is due this week and rewards exactly this kind of honest self-check.
