Assessment 2: Cue Ball Control Challenge
A hands-on test of tangent-line prediction, stop, follow, draw, basic side spin and basic point positioning — judged on where the cue ball finishes, not just on whether the object ball is potted.
Due: 14 April 2027 · Weight: 25%
The brief#
Play a short set of shots called by the assessor, each specifying not just the object ball but where the cue ball should finish.
Potting is assumed at this stage — the mark is for control of the cue ball afterwards.
What you submit#
Demonstrated live at the table during a practical session; no written submission.
The spec
The brief poses the problem and leaves room for a response. The spec is the fixed part: what a marker checks. Some lines can be checked mechanically; the rest call for judgement.
- you can predict the approximate first direction of the cue ball before playing a shot
- you can play stop, follow and draw shots on request
- you can land the cue ball at or near a specified point at least half the time
How it is marked
| Criterion | Weight |
|---|---|
| Cue-ball finishing position | 70% |
| Consistency across attempts | 30% |
