Shifts
The twelve-week teaching schedule: what happens in each shift, what to prepare, and what leaves the room.
Twelve rostered Shifts, two hours each. They are called Shifts rather than tutorials because that is what the work is: from week 8 there is a live queue on the course sandbox, and it does not clear itself between classes.
Every Shift page says what to bring, what happens in the room, and what leaves it. The last of those is the one to read first — from week 2 onward, whatever a Shift produces is what your Contribution Log is made of.
The dates jump three weeks between week 6 and week 7. That is the university's mid-semester break, and your project does not get one. The Log asks for nothing across it. Clause 4 of thecontributor undertaking still does: a talk-page thread you opened in week 6 is not closed by the teaching calendar.
Induction
Accounts, project choice, and the undertaking you sign before this course lets you near anybody else's community
Week 1 · 22 February 2027
Reading the room
Thirty days of your project's public record, read closely, turned into a map of the rules nobody wrote down
Week 2 · 1 March 2027
First edit
You make a real contribution to a real project, in the room, with people who can tell you what will happen to it
Week 3 · 8 March 2027
Talk page
Your prediction meets reality, and you write the reply that either opens a conversation or ends one
Week 4 · 15 March 2027
The sourcing bench
A worked comparison of two standards of evidence, run over the same claim, until you can tell which project you are in by what it refuses
Week 5 · 22 March 2027
Deletion debate
A live deletion discussion, run properly, on a real borderline subject, with one of you closing it and having to justify the close
Week 6 · 29 March 2027
Writing the rules
The cohort writes the rules for the course sandbox, encodes some of them in AutoModerator, and then has to live under both until week 12
Week 7 · 19 April 2027
The queue
Rostered enforcement on the course sandbox — you remove things, you write the reason, and somebody appeals it to a person who is not you
Week 8 · 26 April 2027
The rota
You design the roster that will carry the sandbox through to handover, and argue about what the work is worth
Week 9 · 3 May 2027
Fork drill
The scenario that asks what your leverage actually is, run as a decision under time pressure with people who will be harmed either way
Week 10 · 10 May 2027
Bot audit
You audit ShiftBot against four weeks of its own decisions and find out what the rules you wrote in week 7 have actually been doing
Week 11 · 17 May 2027
Handover
You write the document that outlives you, hand the sandbox to next year's cohort, and leave your home project properly
Week 12 · 24 May 2027
