Week 11 Dailies: Fine Cut

Dailies for the assembled pilot, checked against the delivery spec.

19 May 2027

Bring the finished pilot, assembled, captioned, and exported to the platform’s delivery spec — this Dailies screens the whole cut, not a single shot, for the first time all semester. It plays once straight through on a phone speaker, the way it’s actually going to be watched, before any note gets raised. Notes are filed against one of three checks: does the loudness sit inside the published standard, are the captions present and in sync all the way through, does the export actually open in the delivery spec it claims. A cut that plays back cleanly on a laptop but clips or drops captions on a phone hasn’t passed this Dailies; it’s failed the same way a shot fails the quality gate, just one level up.

What gets screened

One cut, once, through a phone speaker, and then the spec it claims to have been exported to. The scale is published numbers rather than the room’s ears.

The rungs, in the order they screen:

A cut nobody measured is the one that stalls the room. “It sounded fine” is not a loudness reading, and this is the one Dailies where a reading exists and can be brought.

You leave with the number you missed and by how much.
