Week 7 Dailies: The Graph Review

Dailies for the week's own-workflow ladder, read node by node.

21 April 2027

Bring all four graph files and their outputs — the graphs go up on screen before any clip plays, because this week’s review is of the workflow, not just what it produced. Starting this week, Dailies runs graph to graph: someone else in the room traces each of the four tiers node by node, naming which loader, conditioning, sampler, or fix-pass job each addition is doing, before the matching output is allowed to play. An output that looks right from a graph nobody else in the room can read doesn’t pass review; a graph is only finished once someone other than its author can follow it.

What gets screened

Four graphs and the four clips they produced, graphs first. The scale is not which clip looks best. It is which route to the same shot you can account for, node by node, out loud.

The rungs, in the order they screen:

The clip being fine is not the question here. What stops a screening is a stall in the trace: a node nobody can put a job to, and the clip waiting behind it until that node is named or taken out.

Of the four routes, one you can defend and one you were copying; telling them apart is what the hour is for.

The rungs above are not a description. The rig recorded them once, and that recording is the scale: replay the four routes this Dailies is measured against.
