About MP3Blast.net

MP3Blast.net started in March 2004 as a hobby page for sharing a weekly chart of favourite tracks with a few friends, and somehow it's still going. There's no company behind it, no investors, and definitely no business plan --- just one person who likes the Top 40 chart, the guestbook, and the general chaos of the early-web look.

Why does it look like this?

On purpose. This whole site is hand-built with plain HTML and CSS --- no JavaScript, no frameworks, no build step doing anything clever behind the scenes. The banners, the badges, the blinking "NEW!" tags and the hit counter are all just styled boxes of text, not real images or scripts. It's a deliberate throwback to what a download site looked like in the mid-2000s, back when a beige tower under your desk was still doing most of the heavy lifting.

What's the deal with the ads?

They're fake. Nobody actually won a free MP3 player, and there's no real ringtone service on the other end of that "text BEAT to 12345" banner. They're there because every site from this era had at least three of them, usually blinking, usually promising something too good to be true.

Song requests go in the guestbook. Webring swaps go through the webring page. Everything else can go to the email address in the footer, which the webmaster checks roughly as often as the site gets a fresh coat of paint.
