- Email for course-level questions; use the weekly session for feedback on work.
Marisol designed SLOP3358’s four-stage progression — measurement, structure, transformation, prediction — after a decade split between rheology labs and undergraduate teaching, and remains convinced that a food material is the easiest way to make soft-matter physics feel consequential rather than abstract. Marisol convenes the course, sets and moderates all four assessments, and lectures the Stage 4 material on model fitting and inverse design.
Consultation hours run Thursday afternoons by email-arranged appointment; the fastest response is usually during the Tuesday session itself. Email is for course-level questions — assessment scope, extensions, the fit between a module and an assessment brief.
Escalation path: questions about a specific module’s content or a specific piece of marked work go to Idris first. Marisol handles anything that changes what’s expected of the whole cohort, and any dispute Idris can’t resolve.
