Before the session
Bring two examples of the same place photographed or filmed at different times of day.
In the session
We compare front, side and back light, then make a three-shot exercise that uses changing light to alter the meaning of a routine.
Afterwards
Add a location and time-of-day note to your Assignment 1 plan. Identify the light you need and a backup option.
Further practice
- Adobe: colour workflows in Premiere Pro introduces the difference between correcting an image and applying a creative look.
- National Film and Sound Archive: learning resources offers Australian screen examples for analysing lighting, colour and visual storytelling.
