Review Week 1 footage, then practise deliberate focus, exposure, movement and basic file management.

Saved only in this browser. It is not a grade or submission record.
Before the session
Bring three Week 1 shots and your note about the change they show. Check that your files play from the device you bring.
In the session
Small groups identify what each sequence communicates. We then test focus, exposure lock, stabilisation and frame rate using a 20-second continuity exercise.
Afterwards
Draft a one-sentence premise for Assignment 1. Choose a subject you can approach safely and repeatedly.
Technical preparation
For the Week 2 laboratory exercise, record two ten-second tests of the same subject: one in daylight and one indoors. Label each clip with its frame rate, shutter, ISO, white-balance setting and focus mode. Bring both the clips and the settings record to class.
Further practice
- Adobe: Video encoding settings reference explains the relationship between format, resolution, frame rate and codec at export.
- Blackmagic Design: DaVinci Resolve training provides free official editing, colour and audio practice materials.
- W3C: Making Audio and Video Media Accessible explains captions, transcripts and audio description as part of a responsible video workflow.
