Week 12 Studio: Closing crit
The last studio — a survey of doors beyond the course's own set, and a working session on the field guide
17 May 2027
Before the session#
Read the week 12 lecture and bring a rough draft of your field guide’s categories, even if the worked examples aren’t finished yet.
In the session#
The last lecture widens the lens past this semester’s own doors; this closing crit spends the studio testing whether each person’s draft typology survives that wider view. Petra runs the room the same way as week 1’s first door session, but backwards: instead of building shared vocabulary from scratch, the studio pressure-tests whether everyone’s own categories actually generalise, including onto a door nobody in the course has audited.
Afterwards#
Nothing submitted here. The field guide itself is due at the end of the teaching period, worth 30% of the course — the last of the four assessments.
The spec
What you bring to the session. Written so a reader can tell whether it has been met without asking you.
- you can state your field guide's categories out loud, before they're written down for good
- you have tested at least one category against a door outside your own semester's set
- you know which of your semester's doors — including your redesign — sits where in the typology
