What is covered, week by week, and which topics each lecture draws on.

Lectures

Doorology runs on six lectures and twelve studio sessions, not the other way round. A lecture hands you vocabulary and cases you couldn’t get from your own doors alone — affordance and signifier, security theatre, prototyping fidelity — and the studio sessions that follow put it to work.

Opening lecture

What Doorology is, why a whole studio semester fits inside one object, and what the four assessments actually ask of you

Hardware and what it tells you

Affordances, signifiers and the vocabulary for judging a door before you ever touch it

Week 3 · 8 March 2027

Doors that pass and doors that work

Why a door can look fine at eye level and still fail the person trying to get through it

The gap between hardware that provides security and hardware that only performs it

Week 7 · 12 April 2027

Week 9 · 26 April 2027

Doors elsewhere

A last, wider look at doors outside this semester's own set, before you write the categories down for good
