Combine everything up to the bridging week — digitizing, creative coding, and physical computing
Due: 16 April 2027 · Weight: 25%
The brief#
Get a signal from the physical world, through a microcontroller, into a program, and let the program change something in the physical world back.
Combine at least two techniques from weeks 1–6: a digitizing technique, the Programming I on-ramp, and the sensor/actuator/serial work from the physical-computing pillar. The bridging week’s serial-comms material is what makes this brief different from Studio Brief 1 — the loop should actually close, sensor to code to physical effect, not stop halfway.
What you submit#
A video under two minutes showing the loop running end to end, plus the working files (firmware, sketch, and wiring photo or diagram). Name the techniques combined and where each shows up in the video.
The spec
The brief poses the problem and leaves room for a response. The spec is the fixed part: what a marker checks. Some lines can be checked mechanically; the rest call for judgement.
- submitted by the deadline, as a short video (under two minutes) plus the working files
- names at least two techniques from weeks 1–6 and how they connect
- the work is yours and your studio pair's, with each person's contribution named and any other assistance declared
