The brief#
Build a vocabulary for hearing data by making four small mappings and
recording what each one reveals, hides and suggests.
Use the weekly experiments from weeks 1–4. At least one entry must compare two
mappings of identical values; at least one must document a failed mapping.
What you submit#
One accessible document or web page containing four entries, mapping legends,
source links and a short index. Embed audio or link stable files, but ensure the
scientific comparison is possible from the included tables and descriptions.
The spec
The brief poses the problem and leaves room for a response. The spec is the fixed part: what a marker checks. Some lines can be checked mechanically; the rest call for judgement.
- four entries of 250–350 words are combined in one accessible PDF or web page
- every entry includes data values, a reconstructable mapping rule and a non-audio representation
- sources, software and assistance are attributed
How it is marked
| Criterion | Weight |
|---|
| Traceability of source and transformation | 40% |
| Quality of listening observations | 35% |
| Clarity and accessibility | 25% |
