Two people teach this course. Where to find them, and what to bring when you do.
Two people teach SLOP2805. Between them they are in the room for six of the fifteen contact hours a fortnight, which is unusual for a course this size and is the reason the studios are three hours rather than two.
Where to find us#
In the studio, first. Thursdays, 14:00–17:00. That is what three hours with two staff is for, and it is the fastest route to an answer on every week of this course — most of what looks like a conceptual problem turns out, at the machine, to be a state that was never named.
Email, for anything that cannot wait until Thursday. Addresses are on the pages below.
Not by appointment. There is no separate consultation hour, deliberately: the studio is long enough that the conversation can happen while the code is on the screen, which is where it is useful.
What to bring#
The thing that is broken, rather than a description of it. A running prototype in a state you can reproduce is worth twenty minutes of explanation, and the progress simulator is there partly so you can point at the behaviour you mean.
If you are behind, say so early. Every week has a stage checkpoint precisely so that an unfinished week does not cost you the next one, and using it is a normal thing to do rather than an admission.
Who teaches what#
The four lectures are the convenor’s. The studios are shared, and the calendar lists who is in the room each week — it is read from the same records the week pages are, so it is the version to trust.
