Labs
Eleven assessed labs, weeks 2 to 12: what to prepare, the bounded task, and what leaves the room.
Eleven assessed labs, weeks 2 to 12, worth 2% each, and your best ten count. Week 1's session is an optional drop-in for course setup and carries no marks.
Every lab is prepared beforehand and finished inside the session, on the Faculty's pit wall. You are handed a codebase with one capability left to implement; what leaves the room is that capability, working, and the record of the decisions that produced it. A reference solution releases once the lab closes, so you start the final project holding a correct version of all eleven.
What preparing involves, and what to have working on your machine before the first lab, is on setting up your machine.
Week 1: Getting set up
The orientation drop-in — no marks and no submission, but three things week 2's lab expects you to arrive with already working
Week 2 Lab: Fitting a wear curve
The first lab — select the clean laps from a supplied stint, correct for fuel, and report a tyre wear coefficient with an interval
Week 3 Lab: Pricing the stop
Measure two-lap pit loss, reconcile Friday's physical tyre inventory, and enumerate every legal one- and two-stop compound sequence
Week 4 Lab: Running the race loop
Implement a deterministic lap transition, preserve physical-set age, and reproduce a supplied trace and finishing time
Week 5 Lab: Pricing the traffic
Preserve the clean-air clock, price a supplied rejoin packet once, and rank stop candidates by finishing position
Week 6 Lab: When the rival moves
Build a bounded response function, precommit the falsifier and defend the stop returned when Moss answers
Week 7 Lab: Pricing the wait
Validate a supplied interruption scenario, gate actions on the physical set ledger, and make a one-lap stop call from an analytic expected cost
Week 8 Lab: Committing to rain
Validate a supplied weather ensemble and tyre-set ledger, then save and defend a position-first wet-weather commitment before the outcome unlocks
Week 9 Lab: Share the draw
Build two complete finishing-position distributions from paired synthetic trials, then compare strategies under the same interruption and weather draws
Week 10 Lab: Name the objective
Validate a supplied two-car decision set, rank it for the team, then re-rank the same outcomes for car 14 and account for the trade
Week 11 Lab: Designing the wall
Configure a pit wall display for a supplied model's output, then measure whether a correct call can be made from it inside the time limit — yours against the baseline
Week 12 Lab: Draw the trust boundary
Validate and audit a supplied probability archive, expose the condition split hidden by its aggregate diagram, and write the model's domain of validity
