A stylised portrait of a clean-shaven man with wavy dark hair and round glasses in a collared shirt and jacket, rendered in textured gold and black on warm cream

Tobias Wren

Builds the Faculty's synthetic seasons, so most of the timing data this course reads is his. Works on what a measurement can and cannot be asked to support.

Ask in any lab — all three tutors staff every session. Email when a question cannot wait for the next one.

Wren works on the generator behind SlopU’s archive, which is why the true values your estimates are checked against exist at all. His own interest is in what a number is entitled to claim: which laps belong in a fit, what an interval is actually a statement about, and how a confounded measurement looks when it is about to be trusted.

He leads weeks 1 to 4 — getting set up, fitting a wear curve, pricing the stop, and closing the race loop — and staffs every other lab alongside Sorge and Ferriter.

Ask him about measurement: what a timing set does and does not contain, which laps to exclude and why, and how to put an interval around a number you fitted.
