Week 8 Session: Continuity and rhythm
Use screen direction, action matching and shot duration to help a viewer move through time and space.
12 April 2027
Saved only in this browser. It is not a grade or submission record.
Before the session
Bring one sentence describing your final project subject and a reference video whose rhythm you want to study.
In the session
We diagnose continuity problems, re-cut a shared sequence and workshop final-project premises for scope and access.
Afterwards
Write a final-project logline, audience statement and first production plan.
Further practice
- StudioBinder: the 180-degree rule gives a visual explanation of screen direction and when a deliberate line crossing can work.
- Adobe: create a project and import media supports a clean edit workflow before you begin recutting coverage.
Reference viewing
Choose a scene with a clear action. Track screen direction: when does the editor preserve orientation, and when do they disrupt it?
