A logline only becomes a shoot once it is broken into a structure, a storyboard and a shot list that someone else could execute. This lecture maps setup, development and resolution as images, builds a shot list from a storyboard, and works through coverage, screen direction and continuity before turning to the planning a real shoot day needs: time budgeting, risk assessment, access and permission, and a backup plan.

Outline

We move from a logline and a rough list of moments to a three-part structure, then from storyboard panels to a full shot list with size, movement, location and duration columns. The session closes with the planning work a shoot depends on — risk, permission, consent and the media record, and a backup for anything the plan assumes — and with the production log you keep once a shoot changes on the day.

Bring a logline, a location and a rough list of moments, and be ready to trade shot lists with a partner for review before Week 7.
