Studio Mondays. Budget questions go better if you arrive with the fiscal readout already open.

Tobias modelled municipal budgets for six years. They now mostly think about benches. It is a shorter journey than it sounds: a bench is a line item with a frontage. They teach Weeks 8 and 9: the fiscal week, where a service cutback is imposed on your district and you decide what it costs, and the public realm week, where you find out how little of a convincing street is actually expensive.

They are the person to see when your district is technically solvent and nobody would want to live in it, which is a more common outcome here than students expect. Livability and fiscal performance are two of the three metrics, and Weeks 8 and 9 are where the studio stops letting you pretend they point the same way.

Ask about the plaza that cost more than the transit line. You will get both sets of numbers.
