Week 8 Workshop: Windup and settle
Iterating on a landing and takeoff pose purely through the pose controls, timing feedback against a partner's read of the same trajectory.
14 April 2027
Preparation#
Complete the week 8 lecture task before this session.
Activity#
- Build your two pose pairings from the lecture task on the posture comparison’s fixed trajectory.
- Show both to a partner in a random order, without saying which is which, and ask them to identify the one you intended as “anticipating” the jump. Record their guess and whether it was correct.
- Ask your partner which specific pose feature (arm swing timing, landing compression amount) drove their guess. Write it down even if their guess was wrong — a wrong guess still tells you what read as the stronger signal.
Output#
Your two pose pairings, your partner’s guess and outcome, and the pose feature they named as the deciding factor.
Criteria#
Not marked. Your tutor will check both pairings were shown on the identical trajectory — this is the same fixed-path discipline week 7 introduced, applied to a new pose feature.
The spec
What you bring to the session. Written so a reader can tell whether it has been met without asking you.
- two pose pairings (arm swing, landing compression) for the same preset, one "anticipating" and one flat
- a partner's blind guess at which pairing was which, and whether they guessed correctly
- one sentence on what pose feature the guess turned on
