Week 6 Workshop: Forgiveness rehearsal
A dry run of Take Control's two forgiveness trials — coyote time and jump buffer — reported the way the brief actually asks for them, in milliseconds.
31 March 2027
Preparation#
Complete the week 6 lecture task before this session, including at least one coyote-time and one jump-buffer attempt.
Activity#
- In the Gravity Lab, use “Copy configuration” to capture the exact settings you’re about to test, and paste that link into your notes before running anything — this is the reproducibility habit Take Control marks directly.
- Run your release-cut comparison and both forgiveness trials again under the captured configuration, this time timing your mistiming attempts with a visible clock or a counted beat so the millisecond figure you report isn’t a guess.
- Swap your configuration link with a partner. Each of you loads the other’s link and attempts to reproduce their forgiveness outcome. Report whether it matched.
Output#
Your configuration link, the release-cut height comparison, both forgiveness trials with millisecond estimates and outcomes, and one sentence on whether your partner reproduced your result.
Criteria#
Not marked. Your tutor will check that the configuration link actually reproduces the settings you reported using it for — this is exactly what Take Control, due Friday, is marked on.
The spec
What you bring to the session. Written so a reader can tell whether it has been met without asking you.
- a release-cut height comparison (short release versus full hold) with the release cut factor value used
- one coyote-time trial and one jump-buffer trial, each with the mistiming reported in milliseconds and the outcome
- the "Copy configuration" link for the settings used, pasted alongside the results
