Projection mapping — throwing computed light back onto the physical surface you scanned last week
1 March 2027
The second half of the digitizing pillar: instead of capturing a surface as data, you project computed light onto a surface, so the digital process returns to the physical object in the same session — a small round trip inside the bigger one the course is named for.
Outline#
- mapping a projector to an irregular physical surface
- calibration: why a straight rectangle mapped onto a curved object goes wrong, and how to fix it
- what “digitized” work looks like feeding into next week’s programming on-ramp
- Studio Brief 1 (due week 4) opens — it asks you to combine this pillar with the one starting next week
