Who teaches this course, which weeks they take, and who to ask first.
Four of us teach this course, and each entry below says which weeks that person takes, so you can work out fairly quickly who to ask about what.
As a rough guide, course-level questions are best taken to Tessa, and anything to do with the arithmetic is Amos. If it is about a site, a permission, a stopwatch, or a queue that has inconveniently stopped existing, then Priya is the one to ask. Please do go to her early rather than after you have spent a fortnight trying to sort it out on your own, because that happens every year and it never helps anybody.

Tessa Varga
Convenor
Convenor. Ran patient flow in an emergency department for nine years before deciding the interesting part was the waiting room, not the wards.

Amos Redfern
Lecturer
Lecturer. The arithmetic half of the course, from Little's Law to the scheduler inside your laptop.

Priya Raghunathan
Field session tutor
Field session tutor and the week 8 lecturer. Twelve years in transport planning, most of them spent counting people who did not want to be counted.

Marta Ilves
Guest lecturer
Guest lecturer for week 7. Eleven years as a case officer, then an ombudsman investigator, on the queues nobody can see the front of.
Consultation#
Every profile lists its own hours and the best way to reach that person. Between the four of us there is staffed time on Tuesday, Thursday and Wednesday afternoons, which covers most of the week reasonably well.
The convenor’s consultation runs as a walk-in rather than a booking sheet, and that is a deliberate choice. The questions that matter most in this course tend to be the ones a student had not planned on asking, and a booking sheet quietly filters those out. If you would rather have a guaranteed slot, just email and one will be arranged.
