The clinic has a priority system and nobody explains it

People arrive after me and go in before me. There is a rule and it is not written anywhere a patient can read it.

Been counting the walk in clinic for three weeks. Arrival order and service order are not the same thing and I cannot work out what decides it.

Watched a man wait fifty minutes while four people who arrived after him went through. He asked twice. Both times he was told it would not be long.

I think there is a triage rule and I think it is probably a good one. Nothing at that counter says so, and from a chair in that room it reads as the staff deciding they like some people more than others.

You have found the thing this course is about, and I would put it at the front of your redesign. A priority rule that works and is invisible produces exactly what you describe: people who are being treated fairly and feel they are not. Record two things separately, the order people arrived and the order they were served. The gap between those two columns is your week 11 argument.

  2. Same at the airport bag drop. There is a rule and the only way to learn it is to be on the wrong side of it once.

  3. Both of you should read that back and notice you learned the rule by losing.
