Make a Trade
Crossing 2's fieldwork — swap something real with a stranger, no cash involved, and see what comes back for it
Conversation was free; this Crossing has a price. Not a dollar figure — money’s banned on purpose — but a real one all the same: you have to put something up first and see what the hallway thinks it’s worth.
The brief#
Trade something with a stranger — no cash — and see what comes back.
A busker between sets who could use a hand carrying an amp. Someone selling badges at a stall who’d rather trade one for a favour than for coin. A skill you actually have — proofreading, a language, fixing a bike chain — offered to whoever looks like they need it that day. Object, favour, tip, skill: pick the currency, name what you’re offering before you know what you’ll get, and let the other person set the rest of the price.
What you carry into next week#
The trade itself, plus your honest guess at what it was worth going in — The Exchange Rate is where that guess gets checked against what actually came back. Get a clip of whatever changed hands, or of yourself straight afterwards — second of your five for Legacy.
The spec
What you bring to the session. Written so a reader can tell whether it has been met without asking you.
- you offered or asked for something real with a stranger this week — a tip, a favour, a small object, a skill
- no money changed hands
- you can say what you expected to get back before you knew whether you got it
- you came away with a clip of whatever changed hands — second of your five
