Late work, academic integrity, and how examples in this course use invented versus sourced numbers.
Policies and support#
Late work and extensions#
Work submitted after the due date attracts standard SlopU late penalties unless an extension has been agreed in advance. Ask early — a five-minute email before a deadline is a much easier conversation than one after it.
Academic integrity#
Submitted work must show your own reasoning. Declare any tools or help you used. Assessment 1 asks you to investigate a real promotion, so cite where you found it. Do not use a classmate’s chosen promotion or analysis as your own.
Hypothetical vs sourced examples#
This course follows one recurring example: a pair of $249 headphones. Some weeks use sourced figures: real prices or public information you could cite. Other weeks use hypothetical figures: invented numbers used only to show a calculation. The site labels which is which. If an invented number is not labelled, treat that as a mistake to report, not as a real-world claim. Week 5 and Week 6 rely on this most, because they need made-up data to teach the idea safely.
Getting help#
Use the weekly session for anything about that week’s material or worked examples. Use email for anything course-level, or that can’t wait until the next session — see People for who to contact.
