Volunteer with CRS
What CRS volunteers do, and the steps to become one.
Volunteer roles
No prior experience or skills are required — volunteers are supported by the CRS committee and by volunteer support coordinators. Roles include:
- Joining a good neighbour support team for a particular family or individual.
- One-off requests: house moves, job search, household items, transport to appointments, garden working bees, sport, or tutoring.
- Fundraising.
- The scholarship program.
- Administrative tasks and projects.
- The CRS committee (governance).
How to volunteer
Becoming a member is the first step of volunteering, not a separate thing you do beforehand — it starts the same path that ends with being matched to a role.
- Become a CRS member.
- Attend an orientation session (before or after joining).
- Apply for a Working with Vulnerable People (WWVP) card for an active support role — free when it's for volunteer work only.
- Get matched: watch for volunteer requests emailed to members, or email CRS directly.
