Join & contact · Canberra

Join when you're ready.

There's no pressure to sign up on day one. Visit a meeting, ask a few questions and see whether the community feels right for you. When you're ready, CAS keeps the current forms and details on its official site.

A low-pressure start

Come along before you decide.

CAS welcomes visitors at regular meetings, so you can hear a talk and meet people before choosing membership. You don't need your own telescope or any previous astronomy experience.

What membership opens up

More ways to learn, observe and contribute.

  1. Learn with other people

Take part in meetings, practical sessions and guest presentations, with room to ask the questions that come up when you're beginning.

  2. Spend more time under the sky

Join member observing activities and learn alongside people who know Canberra's skies, equipment and observing conditions.

  3. Keep the conversation going

Receive Southern Cross, CAS's monthly journal, and stay in touch with what the society and its members are doing.

  4. Help others look up

Get involved in public astronomy and outreach alongside CAS, ANU and the Research School of Astronomy and Astrophysics.
