There's more to see when we look up together.
CAS brings curious people together to learn the sky, swap stories and spend time at the telescope. You don't need experience — or your own equipment — to join in.
Curiosity is enough.
Come as you are. You don't need a telescope or any prior experience — people who are just starting out are every bit as welcome as experienced observers.
What brings people together
- 01
Meet
Hear a talk, ask questions and get to know people who are just as curious about the sky.
- 02
Observe
Learn by looking — with your own eyes and through a telescope, with someone nearby to help.
- 03
Share
Help more people experience the night sky through public events with ANU at Mount Stromlo.

A Canberra astronomy community since 1969
For more than half a century, CAS has connected people across Canberra and the ACT who love looking up. Its long-running relationship with ANU's Research School of Astronomy and Astrophysics brings amateur and professional astronomy into the same conversation.
Stay involved
One good night can turn into a new hobby.
If your first visit feels right, membership gives you more ways to learn, observe and take part in Canberra's astronomy community. There's no pressure to decide straight away.
