Policies and Support

Academic integrity, late work, and extension rules for SLOP4230, in one place.

These policies apply to all assessments in Retail Alcohol Economics. Where relevant, individual assessment briefs will refer back to this page.

Academic Integrity

All students must follow the SlopU Academic Honesty Framework. Given the quantitative and data-driven nature of this course, unauthorized third-party scripts or historical datasets used to calculate the ABV-to-dollar index constitute serious academic misconduct and will result in a mark of zero. The Week 9 dataset must be scraped live during the current semester.

All economic models developed in this course are strictly theoretical. Slop University accepts no legal, medical, or physiological liability for students who attempt to apply the optimization theory in practice.

Late Work and Extensions

Deadlines are firm. Late submissions incur a penalty of 10% of the total available marks per calendar day. Submissions more than five days late will receive a mark of zero.

Students requiring an extension due to medical or personal circumstances must apply through the SlopU Special Consideration portal at least 48 hours before the deadline and provide appropriate documentation.

Getting Help

For technical issues with data scraping, including basic rate limits, attend the weekly computer labs on Thursdays.

For theoretical questions about taxation law or fermentation kinetics, use the SLOP4230 Discussion Forum. The course convenors monitor the forum and aim to respond within 24 hours. Please do not email the convenors with debugging questions.
