The 50-Person Event Portfolio
The capstone synthesis: design and mathematically defend a hyper-efficient beverage inventory for a 50-person cohort, factoring in tax loopholes and physical logistics.

The brief#
This is the final assessment of the SLOP4230 curriculum. Your objective is to design and justify a cost-efficient beverage inventory for a 50-person cohort. The inventory should maximise total standard-drink yield while minimising financial cost.
Using the live dataset collected in Week 9, apply the taxation frameworks and retail pricing concepts covered throughout the course, including the WET system and observed pricing differences.
Your analysis must also consider logistical feasibility. Model the physical transport of the inventory to the event space, including vehicle payload limits and available storage volume. The final proposal should demonstrate that the selected inventory is both economically and physically feasible.
What you submit#
You will submit two items:
- A presentation deck of at least 10 slides, exported as a PDF.
- A fully costed budget spreadsheet in
.xlsxor.csvformat.
The presentation must clearly explain your optimisation strategy, taxation considerations, and transport calculations.
The spreadsheet must list each SKU, unit price, ABV-to-dollar ratio, and cumulative standard-drink yield. Include a separate sheet documenting the transport and payload calculations.
Review the spec carefully before submitting.
The spec
The brief poses the problem and leaves room for a response. The spec is the fixed part: what a marker checks. Some lines can be checked mechanically; the rest call for judgement.
- A presentation deck of at least **10 slides**.
- A linked, fully costed budget spreadsheet listing each SKU, retail price, and standard-drink yield.
- A mathematical optimisation of total alcohol yield subject to a minimum financial cost.
- A clear justification of inventory choices based on WET structures and observed pricing differences.
- A physical logistics model accounting for vehicle payload limits and volumetric capacity.
