Codewalk: reproduce the number
Ten minutes at the bench in week 6. One difference between your number and the published one, defended out loud.
SLOP8412 · Week 06 ·
A number you cannot reproduce while someone watches is a claim, not a result. Ten minutes decides which one you brought.
- When
- 9 September 2026, 09:00 to 17:00
- Where
- Continuous Improvement Building, rooms 2.14 and 2.16
- How long
- Ten minutes, one student at a time
- Appointments
- 50 in the day, 15 minutes apart
Book a slot
Both rooms run at once: the convenor takes room 2.14 and the tutor takes room 2.16. Each block holds 5 appointments per room, so the day carries 50 in total. Booking opens on the Ed forum when Assignment 1: Reproduce the number is released and closes at noon the day before. Take any free slot; the room you are booked into is the room you attend.
| Block | Time | Appointments |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | 09:00–10:15 | 5 per room, 10 in total |
| 2 | 10:30–11:45 | 5 per room, 10 in total |
| 3 | 13:00–14:15 | 5 per room, 10 in total |
| 4 | 14:30–15:45 | 5 per room, 10 in total |
| 5 | 15:45–17:00 | 5 per room, 10 in total |
On the day
- Arrive at the building fifteen minutes before your slot. The corridor outside 2.14 is the waiting area.
- Bring your student ID. It is checked before the ten minutes start.
- Bring what Assignment 1: Reproduce the number asks for, on a laptop that boots without the campus network.
- The ten minutes are counted from when you sit down, so set up while you wait.
What the ten minutes are
One difference between your number and the published one, defended out loud. The assessment page states what is examined and how it is marked, and this page does not repeat it. Read its in-person section before you come.
If you cannot attend, the policies page carries every rule about late work and extensions, including this one. Week 6’s teaching runs as usual: see Blind spots.
