Week 2 Crit: Revision

Taking a vague note you were actually given and rewriting it until it passes the test from week 1.

1 March 2027

Bring

The note from week 1 that didn’t work — the vague one — and, if you can still get at it, the piece of work it was about.

The crit

Everyone rewrites their own vague note before the room sees it: same complaint, same piece of work, but naming the specific thing and saying what would have to change to prove the new version wrong. Then we swap, and the room tries to break the rewrite — if a partner can’t find the specific thing you claimed to name, the rewrite hasn’t earned the pass yet.

Unlike every week from here to week 9, this one doesn’t introduce a new critique domain. It’s here on purpose, straight after orientation: before the method has to survive a domain change, it has to survive being pointed back at something you already have feelings about.

Leaves with

A before/after pair — the vague note and your rewrite — that you’ll want again for the portfolio in week 11.

The spec

What you bring to the session. Written so a reader can tell whether it has been met without asking you.
