The brief

Select hygiene products for the semester and assemble three outfits: one for a lecture, one for a friend’s birthday party, one for the gym.

Choose a product for each routine task in your week 2 hygiene schedule and state why you chose it over the alternatives on the shelf. Then assemble three outfits from your own wardrobe, one per occasion, and take a picture of each — the outfit as worn, not a description of it.

What you submit

Your justification may draw on why clothing affects more than appearance, not just occasion-matching.

An outfit without its picture is not evidence; a picture without its justification is not an argument.

The selection and justifications are submitted on paper; the three outfit pictures are printed and attached to the same submission. See Policies for where to hand it in and the extenuating-circumstances exception.

How each band reads

The bands describe the state of the submission, not the person who wrote it:

FAQ

Does a hoodie count as a hygiene product if I wear it every day?

No — the hygiene product selection is for a routine task from your week 2 schedule (shower gel, deodorant, that kind of thing), not clothing. A hoodie belongs in the outfit section if it’s actually worn to one of the three occasions.

Can the gym outfit just be whatever I already wear to the gym?

Yes, if you actually justify it against the gym occasion — what it’s for, why it’s appropriate there specifically. A picture with no justification, or a justification that’s just “it’s comfortable,” won’t score well regardless of what the outfit is.

The spec

The brief poses the problem and leaves room for a response. The spec is the fixed part: what a marker checks. Some lines can be checked mechanically; the rest call for judgement.
