Week 8 Lab: The screenshot workshop
Week 8 lab, compose the photograph the setup exists for, and start drafting its defence
12 April 2027
The lab where the setup finally sits for its portrait, and where the Defence begins.
Before the lab#
Bring two screenshots: your setup staged as if for r/unixporn, and the same desktop as it actually looks on a Tuesday.
In the lab#
We treat the composed frame as a designed object: framing, staging, what to leave out, what a staged terminal is quietly claiming. Then you list every deliberate choice the image shows and start writing the defence of each. The gap between your two screenshots is the most useful thing in the room.
Afterwards#
You leave with the artefact the course has been building toward and the first draft of the argument that has to accompany it.
The spec
What you bring to the session. Written so a reader can tell whether it has been met without asking you.
- you have a composed screenshot and an honest one, side by side
- you can name every deliberate choice visible in the composed frame
- you have a first draft of the Defence covering those choices
