Desmond spent six years brokering agreements between councils, insurers, and wildlife groups who mostly agreed on nothing except the size of the problem. He teaches the weeks where the research has to survive contact with people who didn’t ask to read it.
He’s candid that the best-evidenced proposal and the one that actually gets funded are not always the same document, and thinks that gap is worth studying in its own right.
