The Showcase

A process account presented to the room — reading your own pilot's likely retention curve, and what you'd change for a second episode.

Week 12 · Due 28 May 2027 · 20%

Read your own episode the way the curve would read it.

What to do

Present the finished pilot to the room, then write a process account covering three things: where you’d expect the pilot’s own retention curve to drop, based on its beat sheet; one specific change you’d carry into a bible for a second episode as a result; and a judgment on what from this semester’s process does or doesn’t scale past a single episode.

What to submit

A one-to-two-page process account naming the predicted drop points, the bible change they justify, and the scaling judgment, alongside the finished pilot it’s written about.

How it’s assessed

Retention analysis checks whether the predicted drop points actually follow from the pilot’s own beat sheet, not a generic guess. Bible revision checks that the proposed change is specific enough to act on, not a restatement of the problem. Scaling judgment checks whether the distinction between what scales and what doesn’t is argued from this semester’s own production line, not asserted. Clarity of account checks that the whole thing is legible to someone who wasn’t in the room for the presentation.
