Posting in case it helps somebody deciding this week.
I took the written version of the week 10 lecture. It is the same material,
it is about the engineering rather than about the people, and it took me
about half an hour to read. Nobody asked me why, and the post-mortem session
on Wednesday had two reports without fatalities in the pile so I did not have
to ask for that either.
The thing I had wrong was assuming the written version would be a summary. It
is not, it is the lecture written down, including the part about why density
is the quantity that tells you where the boundary is.
Thank you for writing this. Every year somebody asks me privately whether taking the written version means missing something, and every year I say no and it lands better coming from a student.

Took the room version and would say the same in reverse. Nothing in it is gratuitous and the forty minutes on how an authority measures the safe capacity of a space is the most useful thing in the back half of the course.
