The shop has asked me to stop standing there

Week 6 and the site I have measured since week 1 has withdrawn access. What happens to the assessment.

Six weeks into the bakery counter and the assistant asked me today to stop standing near the till. Politely, and I stopped immediately, but that is my site gone.

I have observation sheets from weeks 2, 3 and 5, the histogram, and about ninety service times. What I do not have is anywhere to trial the redesign.

Do I start again somewhere else, or is there a version of this where the data I already have is enough?

  1. Marked as the answer

First, this is not your fault and it does not cost you marks, and it happens most years. Second, tell me which shop so I do not send somebody else there next year. Third, you have five weeks of data on a queue you can no longer watch, which is more than enough for The Measured Queue. What you lose is the redesign trial, and there is a route through that.

  2. Options in the order I would take them. Ask the manager rather than the person on the floor, because the person on the floor is guessing about policy and usually says no to be safe. If that fails, move to a comparable site and use your original data as the before. If that fails too, the archive has three years of observations on two queues and using it is a documented decision, not a penalty.

  3. Emailed the manager with the paragraph from week 1 and got a yes within the hour. They thought I was photographing customers. I was not, and saying so in one sentence fixed it.

  4. Worth pulling out of this thread. Almost every refusal is about photography, and almost every one of them clears the moment somebody says out loud that they are counting events and not recording people. Lead with that sentence.
