Who teaches SLOP2895, what each of them owns, and how to reach them.

Two members of staff run this course, and they own different things. Sending a question to the wrong one costs you a day, so the split is written down rather than left to be worked out.

Marisol Quaye convenes the course. She sets the twelve-week testing programme, owns the four failure families — which she is careful to describe as a teaching classification rather than a finding — and marks the final structural defences. Anything about what the course requires, what a criterion means, or an extension goes to her.

Idris Fenn runs the laboratory. He maintains the test stations, issues the supplied evidence pack, and arranges every alternative participation route. Anything about access to equipment, a specimen you cannot obtain, or a reason you would rather not handle food goes to him — and it does not need a justification attached.

When to bring work rather than email it

Consultations run in Week 4 and Week 9. They exist for work in progress: a half-built comparison, a record you are not sure counts as evidence, a prediction you think is wrong. Both weeks sit immediately before a submission, which is when a design is still cheap to change.

Email is for questions with short answers. A draft is not a short answer, and sending one by email usually gets you an invitation to a consultation anyway.

If something here is wrong

Where a brief, the Field Manual and a week page disagree about a method, tell either of them. One of the three is wrong and it is not always the one you are reading.
