Week 7 Care Lab: Care Model Showcase

No new task — presenting how your care model handled change, uncertainty, and the teaching break, as The Care Model closes and Know Your Cat opens

21 April 2027

No separate task this week

The Care Model is already due — Wed 21 Apr 2027, 08:30, before the earliest timetabled group — so there is no new preparation task. Come to your Care Lab having already submitted, with your model in hand and at least one revision picked out that you can point to directly.

This is the first time the class has met since the two-week teaching break, and the break is the point: your human cat did not pause for it, so your model has had two weeks to be tested by whatever actually happened without you watching.

In the Care Lab

This week’s session is a showcase, not a new exercise: in your timetabled group, each person shows how their model handled change, uncertainty, the break itself, and information that no longer deserved the confidence it started with. Show at least one visible revision — not a silent replacement, the actual moment the model updated and why.

This should feel less like presenting a finished piece of work and more like the transition from building a model to living with its consequences. Listening to where other people’s models bent or broke under two weeks of real contact is often more useful than reviewing your own — the failure modes that show up across several models at once are usually the ones worth naming out loud.

Afterwards

Know Your Cat opens course-wide at 09:00 on Wednesday 21 April, immediately after The Care Model closes. What you just showed your group — a model that has already had to revise itself once — is exactly the starting condition Know Your Cat expects. This week’s lecture, When Signals Disagree, gives you the next piece: what to do the next time your human cat’s current message, your established read of them, and their recent behaviour do not agree.
