Llaqta Machupicchu

At 2,430 metres above sea level in the Urubamba Valley, the Inca citadel of Machu Picchu is now visited through three circuits and ten distinct routes, each designed to protect the site while showing a different side of the city — its viewpoints, its classic urban core, or the spaces once reserved for Inca royalty.

Three circuits, ten routes

Since June 2024 Peru's Ministry of Culture has organised visits into three circuits to control visitor flow and protect the site. Each circuit groups routes with their own effort level, distance, and season.
