How to reach the club, join up, and get answers.

Get in touch

Your first point of contact with the executive is via our email: anumountaineeringclub@gmail.com. This will send an email to all members of the Executive.

ANU Sport acts as the overseeing organisation for clubs at the ANU, and acts as an independent third-party in club matters.

FAQs

How do I join a trip?
See the “Participating in a trip” guidance from the club.
Who is eligible to join the club?
Anyone over the age of 18! Non-students pay SRA fees when signing up.
How much do trips cost?
Most trips are run by volunteers who do not charge for their time. Trip costs normally include park entry and travel (fuel costs); participants cover their own gear hire and food.
What if there are no trips in my favourite activity?
Most trips are run by volunteers, so availability varies — consider leading your own trip!
I’m not sure if I have the right gear.
You can hire most of the gear you need from the gear store, or check with your trip leader at the pre-trip meeting.
Someone has asked me to be a Safety Contact for a trip — what’s that?
Placeholder — full guidance to come. In short, you should be contactable while the trip is out, and know to contact someone on the ANUMC exec (or the authorities, if necessary) if the trip doesn’t check in as planned.

Member Protection Information

The club has a Member Protection Information Officer (MPIO), a point of contact for members who want confidential advice about behaviour that concerns them — from minor issues to serious complaints. The MPIO can listen, provide information about options and pathways, and refer members to appropriate people or resources. The MPIO cannot investigate complaints or make decisions on behalf of the club.

The club is currently seeking to appoint a second MPIO alongside the existing officer, so that members have a choice of who to approach.

Club Administration

The club is run by an elected Executive, supported by a broader Committee of activity and role officers.

Feedback

The club welcomes feedback on trips, events, and how it’s run — positive or constructive. An anonymous feedback form is available to members on request from the Executive, and is reviewed by the Committee.
