About
Curiosity first, credentials never.
We're a student club built around a simple bet: that the best way into robotics and RC engineering is to just start building. There's no application, no portfolio, no prior experience required — turn up wanting to make something move, and we'll show you how.
Started because no one else would run it
ANU Robotics & RC Club started the way most of our builds do — someone wanted to make something move, and figured out the rest along the way. What began as a handful of people meeting to solder and CAD together grew into weekly workshops, campus competitions, and a running partnership with UC Robo on Canberra BattleBots.
Everyone, on purpose
- Any degree, any year
- Engineering, CS, or nothing technical at all — the workshops teach it.
- No experience required
- First-timers and veteran builders sit at the same table.
- Run by students, for students
- A volunteer committee plans workshops, trips, and events each semester.
- Drop in, no strings attached
- Come to one session or every session — there's no minimum commitment.
What we actually mean by that
- Learn by building
- We'd rather hand you a soldering iron than a syllabus.
- Open door, always
- Every workshop is drop-in — no vetting, no waitlist.
- Student-run, student-paced
- Committee members are students first — the club moves around a degree, not the other way round.
- Aim high, start small
- RoboCup and BattleBots are the horizon; a Tuesday night workshop is how we get there.
