About Canberra REP
1932 to now
Canberra Repertory Society was founded in 1932. It's one of the oldest established theatre companies in Australia, and has staged more than 550 productions since then.
The theatre
Canberra REP owns and manages its own theatre building in Acton — Canberra REP Theatre, formerly known as Theatre 3 — where it stages six main-stage productions a year. The auditorium seats 188 patrons in one raked tier. See what's on this season orhow to find and get into the theatre.
Run by volunteers
Every production is put on by volunteers: acting, stage management, set design and construction, properties, wardrobe, lighting and sound, front of house, and the ongoing maintenance of the theatre building itself. Experienced members are on hand to train and assist newcomers in every area. See how to get involved.
Not-for-profit
Canberra Repertory Society is a not-for-profit organisation: an ACNC-registered charity, a Company Limited by Guarantee, and an ATO-endorsed Deductible Gift Recipient. Donations over two dollars are tax deductible.
"Canberra Rep will provide the best range of opportunities (including social) to all theatre lovers in the ACT to participate in and develop high-quality contemporary and classical theatrical productions in an annual program for the public of Canberra."
