Everything that happens at Canberra Textile Works, in one place — the monthly meeting, weekly drop-ins, member-led interest groups, and the two beginner courses.

Meetings and drop-ins

Monthly meeting

Weekly drop-ins

Tuesday, Thursday and Friday 10:30am–2:30pm, Wednesday evenings 4:30–8:30pm, and the third Saturday 10am–1pm, immediately before the monthly meeting.

Interest groups

Member-led groups mixing formal study with informal project time, mostly held at Textile Works: Tuesday (coordinated by Leigh Casley), Wednesday evening (Caitlin Ross), Thursday (Kate Loynes and Maree Ohlin), and Friday (Jeannie McLellan).

Times can shift around workshops and public holidays — CSW's ownlive calendar is the source of truth for any given week.

New to spinning or weaving?

Introduction to Spinning

Covers fibre types, tools and equipment, preparing scoured wool, and spinning and plying yarn suitable for knitting or weaving. Bring your own wheel if you have one — a tutor checks it's suitable first — or hire one from CSW for $30 a month, with a refundable $100 deposit. Tea and coffee provided.

Introduction to Weaving

Covers how a loom works, preparing a warp, and weaving four-shaft structures to produce a sampler, before moving on to a project of your own choosing. Relaxed and informal. Hire a table loom from CSW to work on between sessions, or bring your own if it's suitable.

Course dates aren't published as static text on CSW's own site, so check theircurrent workshops page or contact CSW directly for the next intake.
