Spinning, weaving and fibrecraft in Canberra since 1966
Canberra Spinners & Weavers is a hands-on textile community at Canberra Textile Works in Chifley — open to complete beginners as well as experienced makers.
You don't need your own equipment to try it: if your Introduction to Spinning tutor decides your own wheel isn't suitable, CSW can hire you one for $30 a month (with a refundable $100 deposit). Table looms can be hired too — see Equipment for how to arrange it.
60th anniversary
Open Weekend — Friday 21 to Sunday 23 August 2026
Canberra Spinners & Weavers turns 60 this year. We're marking it with an Open Weekend of demonstrations and a history exhibition at Textile Works, part of a year of celebrations that also takes in a retrospective exhibition of the last decade's work at Tuggeranong Arts Centre (23 October – 21 November 2026).
