The Ink & Wash Webring

Est. 2026. Currently one member, this site, which makes the "ring" a small loop from here back to here. That was also how most 1999 webrings worked once you clicked through three dead sites in a row, so I consider it authentic.

Real places to go if the about page left you wanting more:

• Shitao on Wikipedia --- the fuller biography, with the parts of his life I compressed to a paragraph.
• Paintings by Shitao on Wikimedia Commons --- the source category every image on the gallery page was pulled from, and higher-resolution scans than I could fit on this page.
• Bada Shanren on Wikipedia --- a contemporary, also a monk-painter working outside the orthodox schools, and the other name historians reach for when they need a second example of what "individualist" meant in this period.
